ITA All-Stars and Ashe Award Winners Enjoy U.S. Open FestivitiesThe 2007 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Star Team and Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship National Award winners at the U.S. Open Arthur Ashe Kids' Day with Mayor David Dinkins, ITA Executive Director David Benjamin, and USTA President Jane Brown Grimes. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and USTA rewarded the 2007 ITA All-Star Team and ITA/Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award winners with a weekend in New York and a special visit to the U.S. Open during Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. The ITA All-Star Team is composed of the nation's top ranked NCAA Divisions, I, II and III tennis players along with the winners of the 2006 ITA Indoor Championships and the 2007 NCAA Championships. The ITA/Arthur Ashe, Jr. National Leadership and Sportsmanship Award winners are men's and women's college players who, in addition to displaying leadership and sportsmanship, excel in academic, extracurricular and tennis pursuits. On August 25 the student-athletes enjoyed a luncheon in their honor at the President's Suite at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center with USTA President Jane Brown Grimes, ITA Executive Director David Benjamin and Mayor David Dinkins presenting awards. They also got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the tennis complex and there was an additional reception that night in New York City. The 2007 women's ITA All-Stars are: Sara Andundsen of North Carolina, Liz Bondi of DePauw, Ana Cetnik of TCU, Cohen of Miami, Megan Falcon of LSU, Jenna Long of North Carolina, Megan Moulton-Levy of William & Mary, Lindsey Nelson of USC, Jelena Pandzik of Fresno Pacific, Kasia Siwosz of Cowley County, Iuliia Stupak of Armstrong Atlantic State, Anna Sydorska of TCU and Katarina Zoricic of William & Mary. The 2007 ITA men's All-Stars are: Marco Born of Middle Tennessee, Lorenzo Cava of Lynn, Gwen Corchers of Laredo, Somdev Devvarman of Virginia, Luis Flores of Georgia, Mislav Hizak of Embry-Riddle, Treat Huey of Virginia, Isner of Georgia, Ben Kohlloeffel of UCLA, Matt Seeberger of UC Santa Cruz and Andreas Siljestrom of Middle Tennessee. The ITA/Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award winners are: Danny Bryan of LSU, Thomas Dohlman of MIT, Lindsey Fischer of Indianapolis, Hizak from Embry-Riddle, Jennifer Le of Oklahoma Christian, Moulton-Levy of William & Mary, Katy Nethery of San Diego City College, Dustin Phillips of Tyler Junior College, Daniel Pollock of Hawaii-Hilo, Laura Stein of Amherst, Maya Vankineni of Oxford College of Emory and Clint Walder of Riverside Community College. |
